Mobile Heartbeat Expands Clinical Communication Network Options with Private 5G Support

Banyan platform tested with Pixel Health to support clinical communication over private 5G networks

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mobile Heartbeat, a leading provider of clinical communication and collaboration solutions, today announced that its Banyan platform now supports private 5G networks, expanding the connectivity options available to healthcare organizations as they modernize their communications infrastructure.

“Healthcare organizations are looking at private 5G as another option for strengthening connectivity across their facilities,” said Mike Iwanek, Vice President of Professional Services, Mobile Heartbeat.

As hospitals evaluate private cellular networks alongside traditional Wi-Fi, clinical applications must be able to operate across evolving connectivity environments. Mobile Heartbeat enhanced Banyan to support private 5G and worked with healthcare technology partner Pixel Health to test the platform in a private 5G environment. The successful testing demonstrates Banyan’s ability to operate over private 5G infrastructure and gives healthcare organizations greater flexibility as they consider the network strategies best suited to their facilities and care teams.

“Healthcare organizations are looking at private 5G as another option for strengthening connectivity across their facilities,” said Mike Iwanek, Vice President of Professional Services, Mobile Heartbeat. “We want Banyan to work within the network strategies our customers choose, rather than dictate those choices. Adding and testing support for private 5G gives health systems greater flexibility as they plan for the future of their communications infrastructure.”

Mobile Heartbeat collaborated with Pixel Health to test Banyan’s private 5G support and evaluate the platform’s performance in a private cellular environment. The collaboration helps demonstrate how clinical communication platforms can support new connectivity models as healthcare organizations modernize their network infrastructure.

“As hospitals modernize their network infrastructure, they need confidence that the clinical communication tools their care teams rely on will perform across new connectivity models," said Karl Connolly, President of Technology Services at Pixel Health. "Our testing with Mobile Heartbeat showed that Banyan performed reliably over private 5G, giving healthcare organizations a validated option as they evaluate the connectivity strategy that best fits their environment.”

Healthcare organizations continue to evaluate private cellular networks, neutral-host distributed antenna systems (DAS), and other technologies designed to strengthen connectivity across increasingly complex care environments. By adding and testing private 5G support, Mobile Heartbeat is expanding the network options available to health systems while helping ensure clinical communication can evolve alongside their infrastructure.

The expanded support reflects Mobile Heartbeat’s broader commitment to delivering flexible, resilient clinical communication technology that enables healthcare organizations to modernize their infrastructure without disrupting the communication workflows care teams rely on every day.
