Syncell Launches High-Precision Proteomics Discovery Service Powered by Microscoop® Mint Platform

Global program expands access to unbiased nanoscopic proteomic technology to accelerate biomarker identification and drug target discovery

LIVERMORE, Calif., & TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Syncell Inc., a leader in next-generation proteomics analysis, today announced the commercial launch of Syncell Discovery Services, a global sample-to-discovery program that provides biopharma, translational research organizations, and academic institutions with direct access to results from the company’s flagship Microscoop® Mint platform.

"During the pilot phase of Syncell Discovery Services, demand quickly outpaced capacity, with customers identifying proteins not previously known to be at their site of interest," said Nikhil Rao, Ph.D., Chief Commercial Officer at Syncell.

As demand rises for higher-resolution tools in biomarker identification, drug target discovery, and disease biology research, Syncell Discovery Services delivers a unique path to unbiased nanoscopic proteomic insights. The highly precise subcellular workflow uncovers features of protein biology that are often inaccessible through conventional spatial proteomics, laser capture, and proximity labeling approaches. Researchers worldwide can now submit samples directly to Syncell for in situ proteomic profiling with subcellular spatial resolution.

"Our lab has extensive experience with spatial proteomics but the general dependence of these methods on antibody panels was a major limitation. We wanted to answer an important spatial biology question involving biophysical interactions between two cell types but the protein adhesion complex involved was completely unknown so we couldn't design an appropriate antibody panel,” said William Hwang, M.D, Ph.D., at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School. “We were stuck until we learned about Microscoop. This unbiased spatial optoproteomics approach allowed us, for the first time, to identify candidates in the protein adhesion complex at the whole proteome level, which we are now functionally validating as potential drug targets for cancer."

Researchers will be able to use Syncell Discovery Services across oncology, neuroscience, immunology, and cell biology to accelerate therapeutic discovery and translational research. The service program can support clinical samples and includes biological replicates, quality control, and expert scientific support for every project. The end-to-end, sample-to-discovery workflow integrates Syncell’s proprietary Microscoop Mint platform as well as Synlight reagents for spatial protein purification with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s ultra-sensitive Orbitrap™ Astral™ mass spectrometer series.

Syncell Discovery Services packages include:

  • Signature discovery: Proteomic characterization of a single region, phenotype, or condition for exploratory biology, pathway analysis, and early-stage target discovery
  • Comparative profiling: Differential proteomic analysis across multiple conditions, regions, or disease states to support biomarker prioritization, mechanism-of-action studies, and hypothesis testing
  • Program partnership: Strategic multi-study collaborations with pharmaceutical groups featuring customized experimental design, dedicated scientific support, and longitudinal discovery integration

“Today’s technology is unable to discover novel biomarkers at the site-specific, subcellular locations where disease actually unfolds — and that gap matters,” said Nikhil Rao, Ph.D., Chief Commercial Officer at Syncell. “Across neuroscience, oncology, and drug discovery more broadly, the field is still working from just one or two known biomarkers per indication, leaving the next generation of blockbuster targets hidden in plain sight. During the pilot phase of Syncell Discovery Services, demand quickly outpaced capacity, with customers identifying proteins not previously known to be at their site of interest. That traction has also translated into growing pharma interest in the Microscoop Mint platform itself.”

Syncell’s Microscoop Mint platform combines proprietary microscopy-guided photochemistry, precision mechatronics, and advanced biochemistry to deliver unbiased proteomic analysis with unmatched nanoscopic spatial precision. Designed to integrate with a variety of existing mass spectrometry workflows, the platform empowers scientists to identify functional proteins, generate deeper disease biology insights, and unlock new therapeutic opportunities.

Previously in a pilot phase, demand for Syncell Discovery Services is oversubscribed at launch, and Syncell is actively working to expand its service provider network across the world. For more information on Syncell Discovery Services, please visit www.syncell.com/services/.
