Scitara Sets New Strategic Direction, Names Mike Tarselli Chief Strategy Officer to Lead Expansion into Lab Intelligence

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Scitara, the Lab Connectivity and AI platform company serving the life sciences and biopharma industries, today announced a new strategic direction for the company alongside the appointment of Mike Tarselli, Ph.D., MBA, as Chief Strategy Officer. The moves mark Scitara's evolution from a lab connectivity provider into a multi-vendor lab intelligence company.

Over the past seven years, Scitara has built its reputation by connecting instruments and systems across the world’s most regulated laboratory environments, and its DLX platform now serves ten of the top twenty-five global biopharmaceutical companies across development, manufacturing, and quality control.

Customers now ask Scitara for more than connectivity. They want to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to lab-specific problems, from purpose-built applications to agentic orchestrations that can plan and execute multi-step scientific workflows. Scitara built its new strategic direction to answer that demand.

Scitara will pursue two paths, simultaneously. The company will deepen its work with current strategic partners on the connectivity and data foundation the industry already relies upon, including next-generation lab informatics systems and AI model-ready data for manufacturing and quality control. It has also built new capabilities for the future of agentic, autonomous laboratories, applying its scientific domain expertise and technical depth to a new lab intelligence layer.

Mike Tarselli Joins as Chief Strategy Officer

To help power Scitara’s new direction, the team has recruited Mike Tarselli. Tarselli has more than 25 years of experience spanning pharmaceutical R&D, scientific leadership, cloud technologies, AI, and life sciences software. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completed postdoctoral research at Scripps Research, and holds an Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology.

His career includes scientific and leadership roles at Novartis, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Biomedisyn, SLAS, and PharmAgra, followed by executive leadership at TetraScience, where he helped shape the company's scientific and data strategy. Most recently, Tarselli served as a Healthcare & Life Sciences AI leader at Amazon Web Services (AWS), partnering with life sciences organizations to develop AI and data strategies that accelerate scientific innovation.

As Chief Strategy Officer, Tarselli will work across Scitara to help define the company's long-term growth strategy, strengthen strategic partnerships, and align its product roadmap with the evolving needs of its customers. He will also serve as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them envision how Scitara's DLX, applications, AI, and agentic capabilities can transform scientific workflows, improve productivity, and prepare their organizations for the next generation of AI-driven laboratories.

Tarselli will engage with customers and partners on Scitara's expanded strategic vision at Scitara Connect, the company's annual customer event, held this September in Amsterdam.
