Through combined efforts, Texas Oncology and the American Cancer Society are broadening promotion of cancer screenings and connecting more people with lifesaving resources through the American Cancer Society’s I Love You, Get Screened campaign. The collaboration provides education, tools, and opportunities for community members to engage with the American Cancer Society’s programs and learn about cancer screening, patient support, and local care options.

“As we kick off the I Love You, Get Screened campaign today during prostate cancer awareness month, Texas Oncology is proud to team up with the American Cancer Society and their efforts to educate our communities throughout the state of Texas about cancer screening, support, and comprehensive care options,” said Casey Shilling, vice president, marketing, communications, and practice growth, Texas Oncology.

Data from the American Cancer Society shows that Texas falls behind the national average in several key cancer screening rates. Only 28% of males in Texas age 50 and older are current on their prostate screening compared to 31% nationally. Additionally, only 66% of Texas women aged 45 and older are current on screening mammograms compared to 69% nationally. Colorectal cancer screening rates are also lower, with 66% of eligible Texans screened compared to 69% nationwide. These gaps highlight the importance of the American Cancer Society’s work to increase awareness, connect people to convenient screening services, and reduce disparities in access to preventive care.

“This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advance cancer prevention and early detection across Texas,” said Jennifer Kraushaar, vice president, corporate partnerships at the American Cancer Society. “With Texas Oncology’s collaboration, the American Cancer Society can expand its impact and help more Texans access the education, screening, resources, and support they need to make informed health decisions and improve outcomes.”

Texas Oncology will work with the American Cancer Society on the I Love You, Get Screened initiative across multiple pillars of activation, including advertising, public relations, digital media, and storytelling. The campaign will also include employee engagement, internal communication, and community impact efforts.

“For 40 years, Texas Oncology has been committed to expanding access to cancer care, and we’re proud that 95% of cancer patients in Texas now live within 75 miles of one of our locations,” said R. Steven Paulson, M.D., president and CEO, Texas Oncology. “Collaborating with the American Cancer Society on the I Love You, Get Screened campaign builds on our mission of helping Texans get screened early to improve their chances for better outcomes.”

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to improving cancer outcomes across Texas through education, awareness, and access to screening resources.
