Kalshi Launches NBA Finals Ad with a Playful Nod to Investor Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Heritage

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Next-gen financial exchange Kalshi today released a new commercial starring NBA champion and Kalshi investor Giannis Antetokounmpo. The 60-second spot will premiere during Game 1 of the NBA Finals tonight.

Inspired by Antetokounmpo's Greek heritage and set in the iconic world of Grease, the commercial is a playful homage to the classic film. Featuring Giannis alongside his brothers, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex, the spot showcases a side of the NBA superstar fans rarely get to see - his dancing, comedic timing, and acting chops.

To bring the campaign to life, Kalshi secured the Grease intellectual property from Paramount and its Playwright, then went from initial concept to final production in under thirty days.

“Our approach to marketing is to make things people actually enjoy,” said Keaton Inglis, Kalshi’s brand marketing lead. “Once we landed on the concept, it was a full sprint to bring it to life in less than a month. Bringing together Giannis, his brothers, and Grease gave us the chance to create something that only Giannis and Kalshi could have made.”

“Grease is a cultural phenomenon, just like Kalshi,” said Antetokounmpo. “Kalshi goes all in, and this ad is a testament to that."

In February, Antetokounmpo joined Kalshi as its first NBA shareholder. Through his company, Ante Inc., Antetokounmpo has previous investments in a wide range of companies, from Improbable Media and to his venture fund, BYL Ventures. As an active player in the NBA, Antetokounmpo is forbidden from trading on markets related to the NBA, per Kalshi’s strict terms of service that ban insider trading and market manipulation.
