STAR 99.1 Partners With PINK Breast Center to Promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Inspire Women to Get Mammograms

MORRISTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, breast cancer survivors shared their stories with Kristen James of STAR 99.1 to inspire women to advocate for themselves and encourage them to get their annual mammograms. Ms. James also interviewed Dr. Lisa Sheppard to dispel common myths about breast cancer and educate women about the latest mammography technology.

No matter what their experience was such as family history, multiple occurrences, fear of pain or diagnosis at an early age, each woman has taken control of her own health now and urges others to do the same. “It’s important that women understand the options that they have,” says Kristen James. “It’s important to do [get tested] because you matter, and you are here for a purpose.”

All the interviews can be watched at www.STAR991.com/pink-breast-centers.

PINK Breast Center, the women’s health services arm of ImageCare Radiology, introduced their “PINK Better Mammo” service earlier this year which combines iCAD’s Profound Artificial Intelligence with state-of-the-art 3D mammography. The service is more comfortable and more accurate than previous mammography.

“This technology [3D mammo plus Artificial Intelligence] has made a tremendous impact on patient care at PINK Breast Center,” according to Lisa Sheppard, MD, founder of PINK Breast Center. She adds, “Not only is there less compression and less radiation, it helps to ensure that the biopsies we perform are more likely to be cancer, and we also now have fewer false positives and callbacks.” PINK Breast Center now offers the “PINK Better Mammo” at all their locations.

Many women missed getting their mammograms during COVID. Because there is a 99% survival rate for women with breast cancer when it is detected early, STAR 99.1 and PINK Breast Center partnered to urge women to learn about all their options and be vigilant about their health.
