The aim of this study is to test a novel continuous real-time artificial intelligence algorithm to detect and localize dysplasia and early cancer during recorded endoscopy video of Barrett’s esophagus patients.
“We’re excited to present these results for the first time at DDW, as this external validation study shows promising results for a real-time AI algorithm demonstrating high sensitivity for dysplastic lesion detection while maintaining a low rate of false positive predictions,” said Jason Samarasena, M.D., lead investigator on the study and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, University of California Irvine School of Medicine. “Strengths of these results, show that continuous real-time Barrett’s dysplasia automated detection using an AI algorithm is possible, the algorithm appears ready for prospective live real-time testing.”
