Smead Capital Management Launches Two New Value Funds in Canada

The Smead Global ex-US Value Fund and Smead US Value Fund are now available to Canadian investors

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Smead Capital Management, a Phoenix-based investment management firm and a leader in value investing, together with its Canadian affiliate Smead Capital Management (Canada) Ltd., today announced that the Smead Global ex-US Value Fund and the Smead US Value Fund are now open for purchase orders and are being made available to Canadian investors through registered dealers, bringing the firm’s long-term, concentrated value investing approach directly to the Canadian market.

The Smead Global ex-US Value Fund is designed to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing directly or indirectly in global securities and is designed to provide exposure to developed global equity markets. The Smead US Value Fund seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing directly or indirectly in U.S. securities, providing investors with exposure predominantly to U.S. companies through Smead’s differentiated value approach.

Smead Capital Management (Canada) Ltd. serves as investment fund manager, portfolio manager and trustee of the funds, with Smead Capital Management, Inc. serving as sub-adviser. Cole Smead serves as lead portfolio manager of the Smead Global ex-US Value Fund and co-portfolio manager of the Smead US Value Fund, while William W. Smead serves as lead portfolio manager of the Smead US Value Fund. The funds are Smead’s first Canadian-domiciled mutual funds and mark the formal availability of the firm’s longstanding low-turnover, concentrated value discipline through Canadian-domiciled strategies.
