Citi Unveils Citi Commerce Media to Deliver More Personalized Experiences for Customers and Brands

Highlights:

  • Citi launched Citi Commerce Media, a new media platform connecting brands with U.S. credit card customers across Citi’s digital ecosystem
  • Enhanced by the planned addition of rewards platform Kard, Citi Commerce Media leverages transaction-based insights to help brands uncover emerging consumer needs and engagement opportunities
  • The new platform connects advertisers with Citi’s credit card customers in meaningful ways backed by measurement capabilities to better understand campaign effectiveness and business outcomes

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Citi’s U.S. Consumer Cards business today launched Citi Commerce Media, a new media platform designed to help brands reach U.S. customers at key moments in the purchase journey. Citi serves more than 70 million U.S. customers1 and sees 6.5 billion annual transactions across more than 700 spending categories. With this scale, Citi Commerce Media is well positioned to help advertisers uncover emerging consumer intent while helping customers discover brands and offers that align with their everyday spending and lifestyle needs.

As commerce media continues to evolve, advertisers are increasingly looking for deeper audience understanding, measurable business impact and trusted, brand-safe environments. Citi Commerce Media will bring these capabilities together through Citi’s unique view of how consumers spend across travel, dining, entertainment, retail and everyday categories. The platform combines consumer insights, paid media solutions and closed-loop measurement to help brands connect with consumers more effectively.

The launch of Citi Commerce Media follows Citi’s agreement to acquire Kard, a commerce media and rewards platform. The planned addition of Kard will further enhance Citi Commerce Media’s capabilities and expand opportunities for brands to drive deeper customer engagement, loyalty and growth.

“Citi Commerce Media is an important step in advancing Citi’s strategy to create more connected, personalized experiences across our commerce ecosystem,” said Abhinav Anand, Citi’s Head of Value Cards, Lending and Commerce. “By leveraging Citi’s scale, transaction insights and measurement capabilities, we can help our partners better anticipate consumer needs, reach the right audience at the right moment and drive strong business outcomes while delivering more relevant offers and ads for customers.”

Core platform capabilities include:

  • Uncovering consumer signals: Leverages first-party transaction data to help brands identify high-intent audiences and emerging consumer needs as purchase decisions begin to take shape.
  • Connecting at scale: Enables brands to reach audiences across Citi's growing digital ecosystem, including Citi.com, Citi Mobile® app and paid media properties.
  • Measuring real outcomes: Uses closed-loop measurement to help advertisers evaluate campaign performance, prove return on ad spending and quantify incremental impact.

Initial campaigns across retail, payments, technology, and beauty and wellness categories demonstrated strong performance, including up to 5x incremental return on ad spend for an online retailer. The early traction highlights the platform’s ability to connect consumer insights, media engagement and transaction outcomes to drive measurable business impact.
