XLerateHealth Awarded $2.5M NIH Phase IIB Grant to Accelerate National Expansion of Its Enterprise Commercialization Engine

Federal SBIR funding expands XLerateHealth’s software architecture and commercialization product suite to bridge the gap from lab to market for biotech hubs, academic institutions, and entrepreneurial support organizations.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--XLerateHealth, LLC, a nationally recognized healthcare and life science commercialization accelerator based in Louisville, Kentucky, has been awarded the first phase of a $2.5 million Phase IIB Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the IDeA Regional Entrepreneurship Development (I-RED) Program (Award Number R44GM148083).

This Phase IIB award accelerates the national rollout of XLerateHealth’s enterprise commercialization platform and I-RED life science product suite. Driven by seasoned commercialization coaches and healthcare domain experts, XLerateHealth (XLH) is scaling its enterprise software architecture, specialized curriculum, AI-augmented digital tools, and expert talent marketplace into a proven delivery system to meet active demand from university technology transfer offices, federally funded biotech hubs, state-funded entrepreneurial service organizations (ESOs), and health systems translating new life science and healthcare technologies from bench to market.

This Phase IIB project builds upon a highly successful Phase II pilot that supported 17 academic innovators across 10 universities in the NIH Southeast IDeA States region. Over a 22-month evaluation period, participating startups achieved remarkable commercial milestones:

• $20.46 Million in total follow-on capital raised (non-dilutive grants and seed investment)
• 46% Success Rate on awarded SBIR/STTR applications
• 53% Advancement toward executed technology licensing agreements
• 35% Increase in new patent filings
