Syniverse Named Global Leader in IP Exchange Services by Juniper Research

Investments in satellite interoperability and 5G Standalone roaming shaped the annual IPX network evaluation

TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Syniverse, the world’s most connected company®, has been ranked the global leader in IP Exchange (IPX) by Juniper Research in its IPX Competitor Leaderboard 2026, extending the company’s run of independent recognition for its roaming and interoperability business.

Juniper Research evaluated 16 leading vendors' IPX offerings against 11 weighted criteria and attributed Syniverse’s leadership to its extensive IPX footprint and its connectivity with mobile network operators (MNOs) around the world. The firm also identified Syniverse as an early leader in satellite interoperability and 5G Standalone (SA) roaming, two areas it expects will determine future leadership in the IPX market.

“Operators are building their 5G Standalone and satellite roadmaps now, ahead of the market settling, and they are choosing partners who have already done that work,” said John Wick, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer of Syniverse. “We made those investments early, so the capability was in place the day they asked for it. Recognition like this reinforces that commitment, and we are already building for what comes next.”

Syniverse’s IPX network reaches 97% of mobile devices across 190 countries and territories, and operators access it through a single connection rather than via separate links. It connects directly to more than 260 LTE roaming-enabled MNOs, including 12 of the world’s largest, which removes transit hops from the path roaming traffic travels.

Leadership in 5G SA roaming will be defined by low latency and by secure roaming connectivity and signaling, with leading vendors already investing in the Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP), according to Juniper Research. Syniverse carries SS7, Diameter, and HTTP/2 traffic through one signaling hub spanning 3G through 5G, with signaling firewalls and support for GSMA GS.19 compliance. It’s 5G SEPP handles integrity protection, spoofing protection, and topology hiding.

Syniverse’s IPX network extends to non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) as well. It enabled two-way SMS over satellite for Verizon customers through Skylo, and launched the first standardized NTN billing framework with Sateliot using BCE and TAP. Syniverse and Iridium have also partnered to bring direct-to-device satellite connectivity to MNOs.

“Syniverse ranked first in our leading IPX providers benchmarking, owing to the company’s leadership in key areas for the future of IPX such as 5G standalone roaming; building on its extensive IPX capacity, and market presence,” said Alex Webb, Senior Research Analyst, Juniper Research.

In January, Juniper Research awarded Syniverse's Universal Commerce solution a third consecutive Platinum Award and gave Syniverse's Satellite Services a Gold Award in its annual Future Digital Awards for Telco Innovation. Additionally, Kaleido Intelligence ranked Syniverse's IPX network first in its most recent Roaming Vendor Hub report.
