Adams Outdoor Advertising Expands Into Upstate South Carolina With Additional Acquisition From McWhorter Media Group

LANSING, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Adams Outdoor Advertising today announced the acquisition of 30 billboard faces from McWhorter Media Group, marking the companies’ second transaction following a prior acquisition in Virginia.

“This acquisition strengthens our presence in one of South Carolina’s fastest-growing regions.”

“We were pleased to work with McWhorter Media Group again,” said Kevin Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Adams Outdoor Advertising. “Our previous partnership in Virginia built a strong foundation of trust, and we’re proud to expand that relationship into Upstate South Carolina.”

The newly acquired inventory spans key corridors in Spartanburg, Greer, Boiling Springs, and Inman, including placements along Warren Abernathy Highway and Reidville Road in Spartanburg; SC-9 through Inman and Boiling Springs; and Wade Hampton Boulevard, Zuber Road, and SC-101 in Greer.

The Greenville/Spartanburg DMA represents new territory for Adams and comes at a strategic time. Spartanburg is among the 10 fastest-growing metro areas in the United States for the second consecutive year, adding more than 10,500 residents from July 2023 to July 2024. Greenville County added 11,049 residents during the same period and has attracted more than $1.96 billion in business investment over the past five years. Major employers such as BMW, Michelin, Boeing, GE, and Lockheed Martin anchor the regional economy.

The acquisition also extends Adams’ reach into South Carolina’s western corridor with 12 faces along I-20 at Exit 22 near Aiken, just northeast of Augusta, Georgia.

The transaction was brokered by Drachman M&A Co.

“This acquisition strengthens our presence in one of South Carolina’s fastest-growing regions,” said Jones. “We’re excited to establish our footprint in the Greenville/Spartanburg corridor and expand into the Aiken market.”

“It was a pleasure to close with Adams again, and we wish them continued success,” said Josh McWhorter, CEO of McWhorter Media. “While it was a difficult decision to dispose of such quality assets, we are excited about where we’re headed next.”
