The Bojangles Foundation Awards Literacy Grants to 50 Nonprofit Organizations, Giving a Total of $50,000 Toward Local Education

Funding supports programs that promote reading and education across Bojangles’ footprint

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering education and literacy, The Bojangles Foundation today announced the 50 winners of its Annual Literacy Grant Program. This year’s recipients represent a diverse group of nonprofit and community organizations dedicated to advancing reading and learning across Bojangles’ markets. Each organization received a $1,000 grant to support impactful literacy-focused initiatives. A full list of grant recipients can be found here.

The Bojangles Foundation awarded grants to deserving nonprofits and organizations across multiple states within Bojangles’ footprint, including North Carolina, Alabama, South Carolina and more, reinforcing its dedication to promoting literacy and empowering the communities it serves. The funding will help organizations strengthen reading programs, expand access to educational resources and create opportunities for learners of all ages to succeed.

This year’s grants will directly benefit a wide range of literacy initiatives across the region, including an information literacy program for cancer survivors, books and materials for hearing-impaired and deaf students and a donation to a Black woman-owned organization to expand reading options. Additional funding will provide multilingual books for a low-income school, help supply reading materials in book deserts, support book kits for children with cancer and expand a STEM-focused summer reading program for students.

“Literacy is the foundation for lifelong learning and opportunity, and we’re proud to support the organizations doing the hard work to help people of all ages build stronger reading and learning skills,” said Ken Reynolds, executive director of The Bojangles Foundation. “Through the Bojangles Foundation Literary Grant Program, we’re investing in local partners across our markets who are expanding access to books and meeting communities where they are, so more learners can thrive.”

The Bojangles Foundation Fund was established in July 2022 to support the three pillars of Bojangles’ corporate social responsibility platform: literacy, military appreciation, and strengthening community. The Fund is a component of Foundation For The Carolinas, which manages competitive grant programs that invest in communities throughout the region.
