The American Journal of Managed Care Study Confirms Real Time Medical Systems’ Interventional Analytics Platform Significantly Reduces Readmissions Among Skilled Nursing Facilities

Study establishes pattern of outperformance among Penn Medicine’s Lancaster General Hospital associated SNFs utilizing company’s analytics platform, pointing to potential CMS cost savings of up to $2.8B annually

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Real Time Medical Systems (Real Time), the KLAS Rated and HITRUST Certified post-acute analytics solution, announced today its published manuscript in The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), a peer-reviewed publication dedicated to disseminating clinical information to managed care physicians, clinical decision makers, and other healthcare professionals.

"This study further validates the importance that shared patient data, coupled with Interventional Analytics has on allowing care teams to collaboratively work together to positively impact the quality of care for our nation’s seniors.”

The publication, “Interventional Analytics in Skilled Nursing Facilities Associated With Reduced Readmissions,” focuses on how Penn Medicine’s Lancaster General Hospital (LGH) implemented Real Time’s post-acute interventional analytics (IA) platform to manage their patients in LGH-associated skilled nursing facilities (SNFs).

Results demonstrated LGH SNFs utilizing the analytics platform had estimated absolute reductions of readmissions rates that were 15.2%, 12.3%, and 13.1% lower than their state and national peers, as well as other SNFs in the same referral network that had not leveraged IA – representing a peak of 54.8% relative reduction. Additionally, the study found that LGH SNFs with IA also outperformed their peers on all 4 CMS claims-based quality metrics covering clinical, operational, and financial performance – an effort that if implemented across post-acute facilities nationwide, would represent a potential $2.8B annual savings to CMS.

“This study further validates the importance that shared patient data, coupled with Interventional Analytics has on allowing care teams to collaboratively work together to positively impact the quality of care for our nation’s seniors,” states Scott Rifkin, MD, executive chairman of Real Time. “We are proud that our platform continues to support Penn Medicine’s Lancaster General Hospital in substantially lowering rehospitalization rates among their SNF network, enabling true care collaboration to improve patient outcomes and decrease total costs of care.”

By having access to live patient data in post-acute care, LGH was able to influence care processes and target quality improvement initiatives across their network.
