McKesson Launches Project Oasis to Address Pharmacy Deserts in Underserved Communities

Innovative program bridges healthcare gaps while elevating the important role of community pharmacists

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--McKesson Corporation today announced the launch of Project Oasis, a new initiative aimed at advancing health equity for at-risk populations in underserved communities. Led by McKesson's Global Impact Organization and Community Pharmacy & Health, Project Oasis seeks to identify and address pharmacy deserts, particularly in urban areas where residents face significant challenges in accessing essential pharmacy services.

After assessing numerous underserved communities across the nation, McKesson chose Avondale, OH, a neighborhood within Cincinnati, as the first activation site for Project Oasis. Through an objective screening process, McKesson helped to facilitate an expedited path to independent pharmacy ownership for Dr. Emmanuel "Manny" Ayanjoke, a licensed pharmacist focused on building strong ties with the local community. With the support of Project Oasis, Manny and Altev Community Pharmacy are now proudly serving Avondale and its residents and helping to tackle healthcare disparities.
