Cubresa Installs First BrainPET Insert System at Lawson Health Research Institute

WINNIPEG, Manitoba--()--Cubresa has installed the first BrainPET Insert System at St. Joseph’s Health Care London, in partnership with the hospital’s research institute – Lawson Health Research Institute.

The Cubresa BrainPET is a removeable, high-performing PET scanner, specifically designed for PET/MRI brain imaging.

“We are very excited to receive the world’s first Cubresa BrainPET. By operating inside of our existing 3T MRI, this head-only PET system will enhance the possibilities of brain imaging with superior image resolution,” said Dr. Jonathan Thiessen, Imaging Scientist at Lawson Health Research Institute. “High-resolution PET/MRI will enhance the differential diagnosis of dementia, improve the detection of epileptic foci, and improve our understanding of the aging brain. In collaboration with Cubresa, we look forward to pushing the boundaries of the current technologies and developing new research and clinical applications for the device. The BrainPET will help Lawson and St. Joseph’s to continue to be at the forefront of PET/MRI technology development and clinical research.”

The Cubresa BrainPET is a diagnostic imaging research tool that aids in the detection, localization, and diagnosis of diseases and disorders of the brain, and will enable evaluation of neurological diseases and brain cancers.

“Lawson is the first institute in our Foundational Client Program to have their scanner installed,” said Dr. James Schellenberg, Cubresa’s Founder and CEO. “This is an incredible milestone for our company and an exciting time for brain imaging. We look forward to working with our partners at Lawson over the coming years who are focused on cutting-edge brain research activities.”

Cubresa’s Foundational Client Program is designed for world-leading, innovative brain research institutions who are seeking to enhance their brain-focused research activities with the addition of a novel BrainPET system, enabling simultaneous PET/MR imaging.
