Improving the Nursing Environment and Patient Outcomes Key Focus of Discussion

The symposium is entitled, “Recover Nursing Time and Improve Patient Care with NIR Visualization.” Attendees will learn how to reduce workload stress, recover nursing time, and improve patient care by adding NIR vein visualization into their peripheral IV (PIV) site assessment and clinical protocol. The session will be led by Gregory J. Schears, MD and Thomas Hopkins, MD, MBA, CPE, who will collectively summarize evidence clarifying the value of NIR and review practice tips to improve patient satisfaction and enhance provider resilience for use with both adult and pediatric patients.

Up to 90% of patients receive IV therapy at some point during their hospital stay, making it the most commonly performed invasive medical procedure. Although it is routine, venipuncture can be technically challenging.
