Definitive Healthcare Adds Medical Claims Data to Monocl Expert Identification Solution

Life sciences customers can use new insights to better identify, prioritize and engage clinical experts

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Definitive Healthcare today announced the availability of Monocl Professional Claims Extension, a new product that expands the ability of medical affairs organizations to identify and prioritize the right clinical experts. By adding clinical insights from medical claims data to analyze patient interactions, this product creates a powerful strategic path for medical affairs teams to better inform medical research, drive improved clinical outcomes and accelerate product development.

Medical affairs professionals today play a critical role in product development at biopharma and medical device companies. With so many molecules and treatments offering potential, identifying winners is a collaborative effort that relies on combining knowledge and expertise from a diverse set of scientific and clinical experts.

Monocl Professional Claims Extension adds almost three years of claims history spanning a broad set of therapy areas to the Monocl Professional product, which is used by organizations today to identify and engage global scientific and medical experts with the greatest knowledge, influence and relevancy in their targeted disease categories.

With this release, medical affairs professionals gain new insights on:

  • Clinical Experience & Leadership – identify clinical practitioners with experience in a particular disease area or procedure, and then develop volume-based and geographic insights
  • Care Networks – explore referral patterns to develop a deeper insight relative to trust, influence, and care patterns, thus enhancing the collaboration network
  • Innovation and Impact – monitor expert activity to understand the impact of scientific communication and engagement on care decisions over time

“Medical claims are the most requested data by our customer base, and we are thrilled to add claims data to our expert profiles to help medical affairs professionals develop impactful strategies and enhance the standard of care,” said Bjorn Carlsson, President of Monocl and EVP at Definitive Healthcare. “This new data can be used to improve strategic planning, strengthen external engagement, and provide education and outreach.”

With physician-level claims data refreshed monthly and covering nearly 330 million patients, medical affairs professionals can use Monocl Claims Extension to incorporate patient data into their expert identification and scientific communication strategies.

“Through our partnership with Monocl, we rely on their platform to identify the experts and insights to inform our medical efforts,” said Nirad Acharya, GPO for External Expert Identification, Segmentation & Targeting at Boehringer Ingelheim. “By using claims data to examine different sub-populations, care providers, or at-risk patient groups, our medical affairs team will hopefully be able to improve overall outcomes.”

The Monocl Professional Claims Extension addresses the scientific needs of medical affairs departments, incorporating patient volumes and patient management insights into expert identification and engagement.

“Definitive Healthcare and Monocl together offer a solution ideally positioned to address the convergence of medical affairs and commercial teams at biopharma and medical device companies,” said Jason Krantz, founder and CEO of Definitive Healthcare. “Our combined goal is to help these teams accelerate clinical research and commercialization of new drugs and therapies.”
