MEDIA ADVISORY: Association Brings Leading Scientists Together to Share Insights on Airborne Spread of COVID-19

AAAR (The American Association for Aerosol Research) to present insight and expertise from renowned world authorities on the transmission of airborne viruses in a special online event for the news media during the 38th AAAR Annual Conference

RESTON, Va.--()--The American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR) today announced that it will host an online press conference to discuss the airborne spread of COVID-19 this Thursday, October 8 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern time. The press conference will take place during the 38th AAAR Annual Conference, which is being held virtually for the first time. The American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR) is a nonprofit professional organization for scientists and engineers who wish to promote and communicate technical advances in the field of aerosol research.

As the world continues to navigate the dangers posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the conversation too often revolves around myths and misinformation about how viruses and pathogens circulate and what measures of mitigation and environments have a fighting chance of limiting people’s exposure to (and, thus, contraction of) the virus.

In an attempt to put relevant science ahead of conjecture, the AAAR has assembled a panel of world-class authorities directly from the community of aerosol science that is specifically tailored for the news media, putting the complex dynamics of aerosol science into appropriate context.

Prepared remarks from each of the three speakers will be followed by a facilitated question-and-answer period, which will provide important background that AAAR hopes will make its way into media coverage and resulting public discourse of the most prolific public health crisis in more than a century.
