XLerateHealth Selects Seven Healthcare Startups for 2020 Accelerator Cohort in Louisville, KY

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--()--XLerateHealth (XLH), a nationally recognized healthcare accelerator headquartered in Louisville, today announced the selection of seven startup companies to participate in its 10th cohort. This year’s program will be fully virtual to adapt to COVID-19 precautions. XLH’s portfolio of companies have raised in excess of $93M in institutional and non-dilutive funding.

  • Liberate Medical (XLH 2013) received an FDA emergency use authorization for its respiratory muscle stimulator device designed to help wean COVID-19 patients requiring mechanical ventilation off of a ventilator.
  • Kare Mobile (XLH 2019) CEO Kwane Watson was named president of the American Mobile Dentistry Alliance and the company has secured vendor relationships with industry leaders such as Dental Whale Savings Network, Performance Partners, Bankers Healthcare Group, and more.
  • Astarte Medical (XLH 2018) signed their first two hospital clients, doubled the size of their team and was featured in Industry Wired as one of the Top 8 U.S. Precision Medicine Companies.
  • NQ Medical (XLH 2018) has signed contracts with three strategic partners for the development and commercialization of its digital diagnostic technology for detecting Parkinson’s and other central nervous system (CNS) disorders.

The 2020 XLH Louisville startup cohort kicks off its accelerator program on Wednesday, August 5th, and will culminate with a virtual Demo Day pitch to investors, healthcare ecosystem partners, and the startup community on Tuesday, October 13th.

BooknDoc (New York City, NY) is a SaaS platform that connects doctors with patients that seek medical care in real-time. Dr. Opinion is the first AI company with 100% focus on the dental insurance fraud problem.

Glucoconfidence (Louisville, KY) is a veteran-owned company that aims to empower people with diabetes to live a life without limits by developing innovative, low-calorie, all-natural liquid glucose supplements for the insulin-taking diabetic community. IBIS Therapeutics (Tampa, FL) tackles the problem of therapeutic efficacy using a unique AI engine capable of predicting absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity to identify the best drug candidates from a quarter billion small molecules. IBIS's first to market product will focus on COVID-19 and inflammation which enables a cost-effective drug discovery process to investigate every protein in the SARS-CoV-2 viral proteome for drug candidates in a few months compared to the time required for traditional compound discovery.

Mediscan (London, England) optimizes hospital processes by leveraging sensor-based AI on a long range, ultrasecure IoT capable network, turning even the oldest hospital infrastructure into a smart facility. With a strategic focus on patient flow, admissions processes, and cyber-physical security, Mediscan has developed an automated operational assistant, “ALICE,” that collects and interprets critical data autonomously so executives can make decisions in real-time.
