Local Blood Center Offers Consistent Donation Site for Florence Blood Donors

All donors to receive COVID-19 antibody testing with donation

FLORENCE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Blood Connection (TBC), a local non-profit, community blood center is now offering blood donors in Florence, SC a more permanent location to donate blood. This comes shortly after the organization announced the opening of its operations hub in the area last month.

“We hope to find our loyal community donors here who will start their journey now and continue to donate with us for years to come,” said Delisa English, President and CEO of TBC. “Serving the local hospitals in Florence is a joint effort between us and the community.”

A blood mobile will be stationed outside of the future TBC Florence Donation Center at 1617 S Irby Street in Florence starting June 1, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The blood mobile will be available until TBC opens the donation center later this year. All donors who complete a blood donation will receive COVID-19 antibody testing at no cost. Results will be posted in the online donor portal seven business days after donation. In addition to giving whole blood in Florence, community members will also have the opportunity to donate convalescent plasma, a blood product donated by those who have recovered from COVID-19, used to help those currently battling the virus. Precautions are in place to maintain a clean donation environment.

TBC is the blood supplier for Florence area hospitals, including McLeod Health. For more information about The Blood Connection, please visit thebloodconnection.org.
