BASSETERRE, St. Kitts--()--As a continuation of its community commitment in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) provided a donation of “back-to-school” supplies to youth at two primary schools and other community organizations. The university has hosted several school supply donation events this month, ensuring young students have the materials they need.

“As an educator, I firmly believe in the power of learning, beginning at a very young age,” said Sean Callanan, Ph.D., MVB, MRCVS, CertVR, DipECVP, FRCPath, dean of RUSVM. “Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine is pleased to support local students as they begin the school year.”

More than 100 primary school students in the Bronte Welsh and Dr. William Connor primary schools received books, bags, pencils, pens and pencil cases. Alumni of the schools, who now work for RUSVM, gave inspirational talks to the students.

Additionally, the Mol-Phil Explorers Club was gifted school supplies for 40 at-risk youth in the Federation. The organization engages young people to encourage positive community involvement as part of the Federation’s crime reduction and prevention strategy.

“Over the last two years, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine has given generously to the Mol-Phil Explorers,” said Inspector Rosemarie Isles Joseph, founder and coordinator of the Explorers Clubs. “This contribution is well-appreciated and will support our efforts to cater to the welfare of the children in the Mol-Phil Explorers Club.”

A third donation of school supplies was granted to The Single Mothers’ Network. This organization, founded by an RUSVM employee, supports more than 30 single mothers in the Federation. RUSVM’s donation helps alleviate the financial strain they may encounter this school term.

“RUSVM’s focus on education and community building will help give moms the supplies they need for the upcoming year,” said Danella Hodge, president of The Single Mothers’ Network. “We are thankful for this gesture, and happy to begin this meaningful partnership.”

RUSVM is supported by its parent company, Adtalem Global Education, in operating with a sense of purpose, focused on academic quality and making a tangible impact to the global community. The organizations demonstrate their ongoing commitment to the Caribbean with the contribution of financial support and other resources in St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as in other locations.
