2026 BioTech Breakthrough Honors VectorBuilder With “Overall CGT Solution Provider of the Year”

Annual awards program recognizes innovation in life sciences and biotechnology worldwide

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VectorBuilder, a global leader in gene delivery technologies, today announced it has been named “Overall CGT Solution Provider of the Year” in the sixth annual BioTech Breakthrough Awards, recognizing innovation across the global life sciences and biotechnology industries.

VectorBuilder integrates vector design, cloning, packaging, optimization, process development, and GMP manufacturing within one organization. Through its online Vector Studio, researchers can design and order custom vectors, then access viral and non-viral vector production, specialized CRO services, vector engineering, and GMP manufacturing as their programs advance.

This integrated approach enables therapy developers to consider vector performance, manufacturability, and scalability earlier in development, supporting a more connected path from research through clinical translation.

VectorBuilder is also advancing technologies addressing persistent gene delivery challenges. Its DeepCap platform combines machine learning, rational design, and large-scale AAV sequence screening to engineer capsids with improved tissue targeting and transduction characteristics. Its miniVec plasmid system eliminates antibiotic-resistance genes and is designed to improve manufacturability and functionality across genetic medicine applications.

“We built our gene delivery platform around a simple but consequential idea: the vector designed at the beginning of a cell or gene therapy program should be developed with its path to the clinic in mind,” said Dr. Kristofer Mussar, Chief Operating Officer of VectorBuilder. “Combining scientific, engineering, and manufacturing expertise allows us to support that journey. We’re honored to receive this recognition from BioTech Breakthrough.”

The BioTech Breakthrough Awards recognize companies and technologies advancing biotechnology, from genomics and gene editing to precision medicine and biomanufacturing.

“Early vector decisions can have downstream consequences for performance, manufacturability, safety, and regulatory strategy,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, BioTech Breakthrough. “VectorBuilder brings together accessible vector design, specialized gene delivery innovation, translational expertise, and GMP manufacturing, supporting researchers and therapy developers from initial design through clinical development. We’re pleased to recognize VectorBuilder as ‘Overall CGT Solution Provider of the Year.’”
