PRIVACY ALERT: AWKO Law LLP Investigates Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians for Data Breach of 1.4 Million Patient Records

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AWKO Law LLP is investigating a data breach that led to unauthorized access to the sensitive information of 1.4 million current and former patients of Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians (“COPC”), an Ohio-based physician-owned primary care medical group.

In August 2026, an unauthorized third party used voice phishing to gain access to COPC’s internal systems and files containing protected health information. Although the breach occurred in August 2026, COPC did not begin notifying affected individuals until on or around October 21, 2026, which may have violated state and federal laws. The following information may have been compromised in the breach: patient names, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial information, health information, and other identifying information.
