NOR Healthcare Systems Corp. Expands Mobile Patient Access Across Six Hospitals with Altera Digital Health's Sunrise CarePath

Southern California hospital network will be the fourth Sunrise client to empower patients with added self-management and communication capabilities

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Altera Digital Health, a global health IT leader, today announced that NOR Healthcare Systems Corp. (NOR) will implement Sunrise™ CarePath at six Southern California-based hospitals to enhance patient access, help reduce missed appointments and streamline clinician workflows. The secure mobile application integrates with Sunrise, NOR’s existing electronic health record (EHR), and will enable patients across the system to manage their care and engage directly with their care teams.

Altera will provide configuration, training and go-live support to the following facilities over the coming months:

Sunrise CarePath gives patients greater autonomy throughout their care journeys, from appointment self-scheduling and prescription refill requests, to bill review and access to secure payment links. Following deployment, NOR patients will be able to use their everyday mobile devices to download patient education materials and review data including vitals, immunizations and lab results. Appointment reminders, billing notifications, patient alerts and secure messaging capabilities will help bridge gaps between appointments for patients and their care teams to improve care plan adherence and patient satisfaction.

“Patient needs don’t end when they walk out the door after a visit or outside typical business hours. We recognized an opportunity with Sunrise CarePath to better meet patients where they are, on their own time, right on their smartphones,” said David Colarusso, CIO, Healthcare Systems of America, NOR’s parent company. “This implementation is a meaningful step forward not only in how we connect with patients, but also in our organization’s digital journey and continued partnership with Altera.”

In addition to increasing patient access, healthcare organizations leveraging Sunrise CarePath can save staff time and improve operational efficiency by automating manual processes like appointment confirmations. Because the solution fully integrates with the Sunrise EHR, it automatically populates patient-entered data from forms into clinical documentation notes, supporting care continuity while reducing potential for errors.

“We're proud to partner with NOR to give its patients a direct line to their health information and care teams,” said Jay Adams, Group Leader, Altera Digital Health. “With so many competing pressures in healthcare today, Altera is focused on building solutions that deliver real value, not just critical capabilities, to the organizations we serve. Sunrise CarePath was developed to help drive tangible outcomes that truly matter to our clients: reducing no-shows, offloading manual work to free up time and removing patient access barriers.”
