ICR, the leading Capital Markets Communications and Advisory Firm, Publishes its Q3 2026 SPAC Market Update & Outlook

Serial sponsors continue to power the SPAC IPO market

SPACs are well-positioned to play an important role in offering a pragmatic, time-bound path to liquidity, particularly for companies seeking a traditional IPO alternative

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ICR, a leading strategic communications and advisory firm, today released its Q3 2026 SPAC Market Update & Outlook.

In the third quarter of 2026, the SPAC IPO market saw the pricing of 35 IPOs, raising a total of $6.7 billion. Approximately 66% of the new SPAC IPOs this quarter were from serial SPAC issuers. Over the last four quarters, the SPAC market has averaged almost 50 IPOs, raising $9.9 billion each quarter. This surge in the market is attributed to an increase in the number of serial sponsor IPOs coupled with higher average deal sizes from those sponsors.

"Heading into the fourth quarter, SPAC issuance has totaled 198 IPOs and $39.5 billion over the last twelve months, reflecting renewed confidence in the structure as a credible path to the public markets," said Don Duffy, Chairman of ICR Capital. "Serial sponsors continue to drive this market, and the reopening of the PIPE market is making institutional capital increasingly available to support quality deals. It is worth noting that 2026 also marked the first time that Goldman Sachs has underwritten a SPAC IPO with Infinite Eagle Acquisition. We continue to see deal flow concentrated in hyper-growth sectors such as quantum, critical minerals, AI infrastructure, and power, but emerging sectors like defense-tech and robotics are likely to increasingly look to partner with SPAC sponsors to access the capital markets in 2027. We also expect more PE and VC backed companies to look at SPACs as they face mounting pressure to return capital to limited partners."

ICR is the largest communications consultant and advisor to SPACs, having worked on over 180 transactions since 2021. To obtain a copy of ICR’s Q3 2026 SPAC Market Update & Outlook report, please click here.
