Oro Valley has continued to earn national attention as a place where older adults want to live, retire and remain connected to an active community. A recent Travel + Leisure article citing a GOBankingRates report ranked Oro Valley fifth among the 50 most livable retirement towns in the United States and the highest-ranking Arizona community on the list.
For Vineyard Park, the groundbreaking represents more than the start of construction. It marks the company’s formal introduction to Oro Valley as a long-term community partner. “We are not here simply to build in Oro Valley. We are here to become part of Oro Valley,” said Shawn Tacey, CEO. “This community is known for quality of life, civic pride, health, wellness and care for one another. Those values align deeply with who we are as a family-owned senior living provider.”
Vineyard Park Senior Living operates more than 30 senior living communities across Washington and Arizona, offering independent living, assisted living, memory care and respite care. The company’s mission is to create vibrant, supportive communities where every resident feels at home, every family feels confident and every team member feels valued.
Vineyard Park Oro Valley will include 137 units in the main community, with 113 assisted living units and 24 memory care units totaling 36 memory care beds. The project will also include 18 independent living casitas. Once complete, the community is expected to create new career opportunities in caregiving, nursing, dining, life enrichment, maintenance, sales, administration and leadership.
“Oro Valley continues to be recognized as one of the best places in the country to live, retire and age well,” said Mayor Joe Winfield. “We are pleased to welcome Vineyard Park as a future community partner that understands the importance of contributing to the life of this town.”
Kristen Sharp, CEO of the Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce, said the project reflects the kind of thoughtful growth that supports both residents and the local economy. “Vineyard Park is entering Oro Valley with respect for the community and a clear interest in being involved,” Sharp said. “This project brings new jobs, new partnerships and an important new option for older adults and families. We are excited to see Vineyard Park take this first step.”
As part of its introduction to the region, Vineyard Park also announced its Platinum Sponsorship of Rockin’ 4 Heroes, an annual fundraiser honoring first responders, police, fire and military service members.
The partnership reflects Vineyard Park’s appreciation for those who serve their communities and country. Senior living communities rely on first responders during emergencies and many Vineyard Park residents are veterans, making the connection especially meaningful.
“Rockin’ 4 Heroes exists to honor and support the men and women who step forward for all of us, day in and day out,” said Michael Quinn, co-founder of Rockin’ 4 Heroes. “We are grateful that Vineyard Park Senior Living has joined us as a Platinum Sponsor and is standing with the community in recognizing first responders, active military, veterans, and Gold Star families.”
Nestled between the Santa Catalina and Tortolita mountain ranges, Oro Valley is known for its natural beauty, strong healthcare connections, civic engagement and active lifestyle. Vineyard Park Oro Valley is being developed with that setting in mind, including views of the surrounding mountains and living options designed for older adults who want support, independence and connection. “Our goal is to build proven trust long before we open our doors,” said Susan Corscadden, Chief Marketing Officer. “That means listening, showing up, supporting local organizations, working with local partners and earning our place in the community.”
With construction now underway, Vineyard Park will continue building relationships with civic leaders, referral partners, healthcare providers, local vendors and community organizations as it prepares to open Vineyard Park Oro Valley in 2028.
