Matter Health Expands Home-Based Care to Massachusetts and Across Georgia

Expansion gives Matter Health the opportunity to serve thousands more older adults in affordable housing buildings, with additional states planned for 2027

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Matter Health, a healthcare company that delivers home-based care through its clinical affiliates to dual-eligible Medicare-Medicaid members living in affordable housing communities, today announced the launch of services in Massachusetts and a significant expansion of its presence in Georgia.

"What matters most is...thousands more older adults who now have access to care built around where they live and what they need."

The expansion gives Matter Health the opportunity to serve several thousand new patients across Massachusetts and Georgia, significantly boosting the total number of patients the company can serve across its three-state footprint, including Tennessee. Additionally, Matter Health can now serve patients living in more than 2,000 affordable housing buildings across those three states.

“This is an important moment for Matter Health, but what matters most is what these numbers represent: thousands more older adults who now have access to care built around where they live and what they need,” said Michael Scarbrough, Chief Executive Officer of Matter Health. “Our vision is that no older adult should go without quality care because of where they call home. Expanding in Georgia and launching in Massachusetts bring us another meaningful step closer to that vision, and I’m incredibly proud of the team that made it possible.”

Matter Health brings primary and preventive care directly to patients where they live, helping address challenges that can make accessing traditional healthcare difficult for older adults living in affordable housing communities. Matter Health is an in-network provider, and its care teams work directly with patients in their homes, building ongoing relationships designed around each person’s health and needs.

“Where someone lives should not exclude them from receiving high-quality, compassionate healthcare,” said Matter Health’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sarah Chouinard. “When we care for patients in their homes, we can understand much more than a diagnosis or what happens during a single appointment. We can see the whole person, build trust, and help address the factors that influence their health every day. Bringing that model of care to thousands more older adults makes this expansion so meaningful.”

The expansion into Massachusetts and across Georgia follows continued growth in Matter Health’s home state of Tennessee. Matter plans to expand into additional states in 2027 as the company continues bringing its care model to more communities and more people facing barriers to care.

“There is significant opportunity ahead of us, but growth itself isn’t the goal,” Scarbrough said. “What matters is how we grow: earning the trust of the communities we enter, delivering exceptional whole-person care to our patients, and staying clear-eyed about our vision.”
