Linse Capital Raises $150 Million “Ignition” Strategy for Early-Stage Deep Tech

The Late-Stage Backer is Betting on a New Era of Deep Tech Investments

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Linse Capital, the deep tech venture capital firm behind growth-stage investments in companies like Skydio, Impulse Space, Verkada, and SpaceX, today announced it has raised and largely deployed a new $75 million early-stage fund, Linse Ignition, alongside $75m in co-investment vehicles to double down in those companies. Following its 2025 fundraising, the firm has since backed 14 early-stage companies, marking a shift from its decade-long focus on late-stage deals.

Linse Capital’s Ignition investments now account for roughly 10% of the $1.5 billion the firm has invested in deep tech since inception. The Ignition funds mark a deliberate departure from Linse Capital's traditional approach to investing – highly concentrated investments in companies with established technology and product-market fit – into earlier investments at varying stages of maturity that the firm believes will define the next generation of deep tech.

“While we historically focused on leading growth rounds, we have always met founders early-on to begin fostering those relationships. Now, besides helping founders from those early stages, we can also put our money where our mouth is and deploy early checks,” says Bastiaan Janmaat, General Partner at Linse Capital. “With Ignition, we will work with the next generation of deep tech companies early, and put real heft behind the ones that we believe will become industry leaders.”

Examples of themes, and companies, Linse Ignition has invested in so far include: the aerospace & defense supply chain (Amca), in-space manufacturing (Varda), semiconductor manufacturing (Fab2; Lace Lithography), energy efficient edge compute (Mythic), fusion power (Thea Energy) and advanced additive manufacturing (Freeform).

Since its inception in 2015, Linse Capital has raised over $1.7 billion and has backed nine growth-stage companies and fourteen early-stage companies. The firm has specialized in deep tech, partnering with companies that are revolutionizing sectors such as space, robotics, energy, mobility, defense and AI. The Ignition strategy is the first in a series of upcoming growth initiatives from Linse Capital, which will unveil a refreshed brand identity later this year aligned with its expanding remit.
