BLOCS Adopts Universal Allocation Policy for All Partner Schools

Move standardizes BLOCS Mission Fund as nonprofit maintains over 99 cents of every dollar going directly to need-based scholarships for a third consecutive year.

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BLOCS, Pennsylvania's leading scholarship organization dedicated to the PA Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs, today announced it will adopt a uniform 3% allocation on all EITC contributions to the BLOCS Mission Fund, replacing a varied system of allocation arrangements. This represents a lowering of administrative fees for hundreds of schools across the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The BLOCS Mission Fund is designed to support two core programs available to every partner school: 1) the Emergency Scholarship Fund, which was expanded to cover all EDS-qualifying schools and any school that previously received EDS support, and 2) a Grant Program that strategically directs EITC funds to schools and populations with high demonstrated need.

The fund also covers BLOCS' operating costs where necessary – which BLOCS reports has remained below nonprofit industry standards. The Emergency Scholarship Fund provides immediate relief to families experiencing unexpected financial hardship due to illness, disability, death, work disruption and other sudden hardships which stress families’ financial ability to meet tuition obligations.
