VeriSIM Life Awarded U.S. Government Agreement to Advance New Approach Methodologies for Drug Development

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VeriSIM Life today announced that it has entered into an agreement with the Department of War to advance computational New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for medical countermeasure development and safety assessment.

Under the agreement, VeriSIM Life will use its BIOiSIM® platform to develop and evaluate computational models that integrate biological, experimental, and drug-specific data to better understand how findings from preclinical systems translate to humans.

A key focus of the work is determining where computational approaches can reduce the need for animal studies while maintaining the scientific rigor required for drug development decisions. The program will evaluate how these methods can be used alongside experimental data to guide study design and identify where additional testing is most informative.

“We have spent years building BIOiSIM around one of the most fundamental challenges in drug development: understanding what is likely to translate to humans before committing to more experiments,” said Dr. Jo Varshney, Founder and CEO of VeriSIM Life. “This program gives us an opportunity to apply that work to an important government need and demonstrate where computational methods can meaningfully reduce animal use while improving the quality of translational decisions.”

BIOiSIM combines mechanistic bio simulation with machine learning/AI to evaluate pharmacokinetics, safety, efficacy, and other factors that influence therapeutic translation. VeriSIM Life has applied the platform across discovery and development programs and has worked with pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and government agencies to evaluate and validate computational approaches to drug development.

The agreement expands VeriSIM Life’s work in NAMs and reflects the growing effort across government and industry to develop more human-relevant approaches to preclinical research. Investment and implementation of NAM technologies will reduce animal use and enable the acceleration of medical countermeasure development and delivery to meet operational and mission needs across the conflict continuum.

VeriSIM Life Formalizes Research Collaboration with FDA/NCTR, Advancing the Next Generation of Mechanistic AI for Drug Development

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Drug development remains one of the most resource-intensive and failure-prone endeavors in modern science. Despite significant advances in artificial intelligence and computational chemistry, the fundamental translational gap between preclinical models and human clinical outcomes persists, contributing to late-stage failure rates that cost the industry hundreds of billions of dollars annually. VeriSIM Life was founded to solve that problem. The company's core pla...
