Spire Global Awarded $33.2 Million NOAA Contract for Satellite Weather Data to Enhance Weather Forecasting

Two-year contract has a potential total value of approximately $66 million if all options are exercised

VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Spire Global, Inc. (NYSE: SPIR) (“Spire” or “the Company”), a global provider of satellite data, analytics, and intelligence, was awarded a $33.2 million task order by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for a two-year period of performance beginning December 1, 2026, to December 1, 2028. Under the agreement, Spire will deliver global navigation satellite system radio occultation (GNSS-RO) data, including RO profiles with Temporal Resolution Enhancements that provide a broader range of time sampling.

The task order includes additional unfunded surge-buy options that could bring its total potential value to approximately $66 million over the two-year period, if fully exercised.

The award is part of NOAA’s Space-Based Environmental Monitoring Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. This IDIQ has a five-year base period plus a five-year option and operates under the ProTech 2.0 program with a shared $8 billion ceiling. The IDIQ supports NOAA’s expanded procurement and use of commercial environmental satellite data to enhance weather forecasting and space weather monitoring

Spire’s near-real-time GNSS-RO data provides vertical profiles of atmospheric measurements, including pressure, humidity, and temperature, around the globe. Under this task order, the GNSS-RO data will feed NOAA’s operational prediction models and support weather forecasting, space weather applications, and research by interagency partners, academic institutions, and other operational and scientific organizations.

The award follows a $3.7 million NOAA contract for Spire to provide GNSS-RO data, including Temporal Resolution Enhancements, from September 18 through December 1, 2026.

In addition to GNSS-RO data, Spire was selected under the IDIQ to provide GNSS reflectometry (GNSS-R), hyperspectral microwave sounding, and thermospheric neutral density. Spire is eligible for future task orders across its selected categories over the five-year contract period.
