CalmiGo Selected for CMS’s ACCESS Program to Provide Technology-Supported Chronic Care for Behavioral Health Conditions
By 2028, Over 200 Million Patients May Gain Access to CalmiGo’s Mental Health Platform Offering Immediate Relief and Long-Term Care for Anxiety and Related Conditions
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CalmiGo, developer of the first and only mental health platform that provides immediate relief and long-term care to users suffering from anxiety, PTSD, and panic attacks, announces today that its platform has been selected for CMS’s ACCESS program, offering technology-supported chronic care for behavioral health conditions. Medicare serves over 70 million patients and created the ACCESS program to expand access to technology-supported chronic care. Fourteen additional health insurers like Cigna, CVS Health, Humana, and United Healthcare have also committed to aligning with the CMS Model by 2028, which will further expand access to 165 million U.S. patients.
Through the program, eligible Medicare patients may gain access to the CalmiGo platform, which is designed to support both immediate symptom relief and ongoing care for anxiety and related mental health conditions.
“Being selected for CMS’s ACCESS program has the potential to significantly expand access to CalmiGo to Medicare patients living with anxiety and related behavioral health conditions,” said Adi Wallach, CEO of CalmiGo. “CMS has innovated the reimbursement model - creating additional codes that enable technology companies to bill Medicare directly so that eligible patients can access CalmiGo at no cost or with minimal out-of-pocket expense. This is an important step toward making effective, clinically proven, drug-free mental health support more accessible to the people who need it. We are excited about the opportunity to serve Medicare patients and provide them with immediate relief and ongoing support for managing their mental health - whenever and wherever they need it.”
The ACCESS Model was developed to empower medicare patients by expanding access to innovative technologies that can help them achieve their health goals. The model also enables clinicians to offer patients cutting-edge technologies through a clear and sustainable payment model, while ensuring that these solutions are supported and guided by healthcare professionals. In addition, transparency around technology-enabled health outcomes is critical, empowering both patients and clinicians to make informed, evidence-based decisions.
The CalmiGo platform is a scientifically validated, drug-free technology designed to reduce the body’s physiological stress response and provide immediate and long-term relief from anxiety, helping users interrupt the cycle of anxiety and regain a sense of control - wherever they are. The device is paired with a companion app that leverages gaming technology to support faster outcomes and help users manage their anxiety on a daily basis.
CalmiGo also enables users and clinicians to monitor anxiety, PTSD, and depression and track progress through the app. The portable exhaler incorporates patented technology that combines sensors and machine learning to help regulate breathing patterns. It learns each user’s individual breathing patterns in real time and provides personalized guidance and feedback to help gradually extend exhalation between breathing cycles. Gradually lengthening the exhalation may help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which can counteract the “fight-or-flight” response associated with activation of the sympathetic nervous system during periods of heightened stress.
