Tractor Supply and Starlink Turn Rural Connectivity Into Support for 4-H Youth
Every eligible Starlink kit purchased at Tractor Supply and activated through November 15 brings fast, reliable internet home and supports local 4-H youth leadership programs
BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ: TSCO), the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States (the “Company”), 4-H and Starlink today announced the next phase of their collaborative initiative to bridge the digital divide in rural communities. Now through November 15, when customers activate an eligible Starlink kit bought at any Tractor Supply store or on TractorSupply.com, Starlink will donate the value of the customer’s first month of subscription service to the National 4-H Council, generating funding for local 4-H programs that help equip young people with the skills, experiences and opportunities needed to be Beyond Ready for work and life.
Customers can find Starlink kits alongside the tools, feed and lawn and garden products they already shop for, with Team Members on hand to answer questions about getting connected.
How it works for customers:
- For eligible Starlink kits purchased at Tractor Supply stores and TractorSupply.com that are activated through November 15, Starlink will donate the value of the first month of subscription service directly to the National 4-H Council, generating funding for local 4-H programs.
- In-store Starlink purchases are eligible for an additional $50 discount with proof of activation. Shop for a Starlink Standard or Starlink Mini at any Tractor Supply location, and activate your kit with the Starlink QR code (www.starlink.com/activate) before checkout to receive your discount. Proof of activation must be shown at checkout, and offer is valid in-store only. Team Members can help answer any questions.
- Every purchase builds on the $500,000 Tractor Supply donated to the National 4-H Council to kick off the initiative.
- Starlink is providing 100 kits and fast, reliable internet service to 4-H clubs serving rural youth, generating opportunities for students to participate in hands on experiences that prepare them for life, including STEM, educational and workforce development.
What they’re saying:
In June, U.S. Agriculture Department Secretary Brooke Rollins joined Tractor Supply President and CEO Hal Lawton, National 4-H Council President and CEO Jill Bramble, and SpaceX Vice President of Satellite Policy David Goldman at the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to announce the initiative.
“Serving Life Out Here means helping our customers bring reliable internet home and investing in the young people growing up in their communities. Every eligible kit our customers pick up this fall does both. Providing rural communities with reliable broadband isn’t just about connectivity–it’s about giving the next generation the tools to thrive in their hometowns.”
— Hal Lawton, President and CEO of Tractor Supply
“Connecting the unconnected has always been at the core of Starlink’s mission. We’re excited to work with Tractor Supply and 4-H to help bring reliable, high-speed internet to rural communities across America. By expanding access, we can support 4-H’s efforts to deliver STEM education and create new opportunities for youth.”
— David Goldman, Vice President of Satellite Policy at SpaceX
“As 4-H works to reach 10 million young people by 2030, expanding digital access is critical in rural communities. We are deeply grateful for Tractor Supply’s continued commitment and proud to welcome Starlink as a supporter in preparing the next generation to be Beyond Ready.”
— Jill Bramble, President and CEO of National 4-H Council
Why it matters:
- For many rural households, a lack of reliable broadband is still a daily barrier to schoolwork, telehealth appointments, remote work and running a small business or farm from home. A lack of access to internet connectivity is one of the most significant contributors to the opportunity gap young people face today.
- The initiative combines Starlink’s reliable connectivity, Tractor Supply’s nationwide rural footprint of more than 2,400 stores and 4-H’s ability to reach youth in every county and parish across the country.
- Beyond the hardware, every customer purchase helps fund educational, STEM and workforce development opportunities for rural youth through 4-H’s Beyond Ready initiative.
By the numbers:
- 12 million: Young people without broadband internet access at home, who are challenged to keep up with schoolwork and maintain positive social relationships, according to 4-H.
- 10 million: Young people 4-H aims to reach annually by 2030 through its Beyond Ready initiative.
- $27+ million: Raised by Tractor Supply for 4-H youth programs since 2010 through its bi-annual Paper Clover fundraiser.
Eligible Starlink kits are available now at Tractor Supply stores nationwide and on TractorSupply.com. To learn more about the initiative, visit 4-H.org.
