The celebration, held from 2:00 - 8:00 PM, welcomed community members, local businesses, partners, and pickleball players of all experience levels. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 3:30 PM, marking an exciting milestone for the club and its continued growth in the Grand Rapids community.
“Opening Great Lakes Pickleball Club is a momentous event for us. It represents our passion for the sport, but even more importantly, our commitment to building community through competition, health, and wellness. We’re excited to grow this club around those pillars of stewardship and create a place where people of all ages can come together, compete, have fun, and build relationships,” said Brandon Teets, owner and founder of Great Lakes Pickleball Club.
Great Lakes Pickleball Club is more than a place to play; it is a year-round destination for pickleball, recreation, and community in West Michigan. The Grand Rapids facility features four indoor pickleball courts, two golf simulators, lessons and programming for players of all skill levels, leagues, memberships, events, and additional wellness amenities. Whether someone is picking up a paddle for the first time, looking for competitive play, planning a group or corporate event, or simply looking for a place to stay active and connect with others, GLPC is designed to offer something for everyone.
Throughout the event, guests toured the facility, met the GLPC team, experienced the club’s indoor pickleball courts and amenities, and learned more about memberships, leagues, lessons, events, and other opportunities available at the club.
The Grand Opening also featured local vendors, food and drinks, games, activities, raffles, prizes, and opportunities for guests to get on the courts and experience GLPC firsthand.
Local businesses and partners that have supported the club also joined GLPC, including 100GROUP, GLPC’s point-of-sale and payment processing partner. 100GROUP provides payment technology and processing solutions that help support the club’s day-to-day operations.
The event also allowed GLPC to share more about the Michigan High School Pickleball Association (MHSPA), an initiative developed by GLPC to help bring organized pickleball opportunities to Michigan high school students. MHSPA is working to create a structured environment centered around competition, development, leadership, and community while helping grow the sport at the high school level.
“Most importantly, we want to get our youth involved from the very beginning and help introduce the next generation to a sport that can bring a lifetime of competition, friendship, and healthy living,” Teets said. “This is just the beginning of what we believe can become something truly special for our community.”
The Grand Opening marks an important next step for Great Lakes Pickleball Club as it continues to expand its programming, develop community partnerships, and create new opportunities for players of all ages and experience levels to play, compete, and connect.
