TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Subway® Canada is launching its first-ever Fresh For Less Menu on August 26, featuring breakfast, snack, lunch and side options available for under $5 each. From the NEW limited-time Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Snackwich and NEW Turkey Caesar Snackwich to Breakfast Ciabatta Sandwiches, NEW Doritos® Sweet Chili Heat!® Footlong Nachos, Fiesta Beans & Corn Salad and Mini Cookies, the Fresh For Less Menu gives guests more ways to choose different items that fit their appetites, routines and budgets.
Subway Canada commissioned its inaugural State of Lunch Report to find out about Canadians lunch habits in a time where food prices are on the rise. Research revealed that 85% of employed Canadians say it is harder to find fresh lunch options at a price they feel comfortable paying, reinforcing the need for affordable, freshly prepared choices that do not compromise on quality or flavour. The survey findings point to the “Lunch Squeeze,” where Canadians continue to view lunch as important but are increasingly balancing affordability, freshness, quality and convenience when deciding what, and whether, to eat.
“The newly launched Fresh For Less Menu gives Canadians greater choice and flexibility, with options under $5 that they can mix and match throughout the day,” said Denny Downie, Managing Director and Head of Marketing at Subway Canada. “Our State of Lunch Report found that lunch is an important part of the workday for Canadians, but rising food costs are making it harder to find the freshness and quality they want at a comfortable price. The Fresh For Less Menu brings those priorities together, without asking Canadians to settle on flavour, quality or variety.”

Subway Canada’s inaugural State of Lunch Report explored how rising food costs, busy schedules and changing routines are influencing Canadians’ midday meals. The research found:
- Lunch remains important, but is becoming harder to prioritize: Nearly three-quarters of employed Canadians, 73%, say lunch is important, yet 59% say they have skipped lunch during the work week.
- Canadians are making compromises to stay within budget: When trying to save money on lunch, 38% report compromising on portion size, while 30% have compromised on ingredient quality, convenience or variety.
- Greater affordability could lead to fresher choices: One in four employed Canadians say they would choose fresher options if lunch became more affordable.
