JEDEC® Chairman Mian Quddus to Receive 2026 FMS Lifetime Achievement Award

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, the global leader in standards development for the microelectronics industry, congratulates its longtime Chairman Mian Quddus on being chosen to receive the 2026 FMS Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be presented to Mr. Quddus at the FMS event in Santa Clara, California on Tuesday August 4, 2026 at 3:20PM in the Mission City Ballroom, in recognition of his sustained leadership in industry standards organizations whose work has significantly advanced the memory and storage sector and the broader computing industry.

Mr. Quddus, Vice President, Standards and Technology Enablement, Samsung Semiconductor, has served as Chairman of the JEDEC Board of Directors since 2004. During his 22-year tenure, JEDEC has played a central role in advancing the industry through open standards that have supported the rapid growth of cloud computing, AI, mobile devices, automotive electronics, and high-performance computing.

These include standards that underpin modern memory and storage, including successive generations of DDR, LPDDR, HBM, GDDR, NAND flash, Universal Flash Storage (UFS), and solid-state drive (SSD) technologies, as well as standards for quality and reliability of solid-state devices. Mr. Quddus’s tenure as Chairman also includes JEDEC’s successful launch of JC-70: Wide Bandgap Power Electronic Conversion Semiconductors, its newest main committee, which is focused on standards for reliability, testing, and parametrics of WBG power semiconductors.

Underscoring his deep commitment to JEDEC and the importance of industry standards, Mr. Quddus has also served as Chair of both the JEDEC JC-45 Committee for DRAM Modules and the JC-64 Committee for Embedded Memory Storage & Removable Cards since their creation as standalone committees over two decades ago. JC-45 is responsible for dozens of essential standards for DRAM memory modules, and JC-64 has developed numerous flash-based storage technologies.

“On behalf of the entire JEDEC community, we congratulate Mian on this well-deserved recognition,” said John Kelly, JEDEC President. “His decades of leadership and commitment to collaborative standards development have helped enable the technologies that power today’s connected, data-driven world.”
