PVP Labs Selected to Present Taphalgin® (Lumekefamide) as a Novel Battlefield Pain Solution at 2026 MHSRS

Novel, fast-acting, non-scheduled peptide analgesic addresses the military priority for effective, non-addictive battlefield pain control

KISSIMMEE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PVP Labs, a clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing peptide-based therapeutics, today announced that research on Taphalgin® (Lumekefamide) has been selected for oral presentation at the 2026 Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS), a premier scientific forum focused on the unique medical needs of deployed Warfighters.

Joseph Stauffer, D.O., MBA, FAPCR, Chief Medical Officer of PVP Labs, will present the company's research on Taphalgin as a promising and much-needed battlefield pain-control solution. The presentation will highlight its rapid onset, effective analgesia, dual mechanism of action, extensive clinical experience, and confirmed non-scheduled status while in development.

Taphalgin is a first-in-class tetrapeptide analgesic engineered to deliver rapid, clinically meaningful pain relief while avoiding many of the traditional liabilities associated with conventional opioids. Its dual mechanism of action combines highly selective μ1-opioid receptor agonism with calcium-channel modulation, preserving strong analgesic efficacy while supporting a potentially improved safety and operational profile.

Advancing non-addictive pain treatments is an established military medical priority. U.S. military research programs are actively pursuing novel drug alternatives for battlefield pain control that can preserve physiological and cognitive performance at the point of care. PVP Labs believes Taphalgin is directly aligned with these goals.

"Battlefield medicine urgently needs an analgesic that can act rapidly and effectively without adding unnecessary respiratory, cognitive, or logistical burdens," said Eugene Zabolotsky, CEO of PVP Labs. "Taphalgin combines novel peptide design, extensive human experience, and confirmed non-scheduled status. We believe it represents a much-needed potential solution for Warfighters injured in combat and treated in austere environments."

Taphalgin® Clinical and Military Highlights

  • Rapid, effective pain relief: Onset of clinically meaningful analgesia in approximately 15-30 minutes.
  • Dual-mechanism innovation: Selective μ1-opioid receptor agonism and calcium-channel modulation.
  • Extensive clinical experience: Evaluated across six clinical trials and supported by more than 100,000 documented human exposures with no recorded evidence of euphoria, addiction, or respiratory depression events.
  • Confirmed non-scheduled status: The DEA determined that Lumekefamide is not a controlled substance or listed chemical under the Controlled Substances Act while in development.
  • Aligned with military priorities: A potential non-addictive drug alternative for battlefield pain control without physiological or cognitive impairment.

Taphalgin® (Lumekefamide) is a novel investigational tetrapeptide analgesic currently under regulatory development in the United States and has not been approved by the FDA.
