OneLegacy Partners with OrganOx to Transform Liver Transplantation, Offering Advanced Medical Solutions to Transplant Centers in Southern California

In a Special Symposium held on Wednesday, OneLegacy Shared Best Practices with Local Transplant Centers and Organ Procurement Organizations Across the United States

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OneLegacy is offering advanced medical solutions to Southern California transplant centers through liver perfusion with the OrganOx metra®. Normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) can save more lives by increasing the number of liver transplants by 20% to 30% and reducing the transplant wait list. Earlier this week, OneLegacy hosted an educational symposium at its Azusa Transplant Recovery Center, bringing together transplant centers and organ procurement organizations from across the country to share best practices and explore the adoption of the OrganOx metra® and NMP technology.

“Thanks to our partnership with OrganOx, OneLegacy is offering this specialized liver perfusion center, facilitating equitable access of this technology to local transplant centers,” said Prasad Garimella, CEO of OneLegacy.

“Thanks to our partnership with OrganOx, OneLegacy is offering this specialized liver perfusion center, facilitating equitable access of this technology to local transplant centers,” said Prasad Garimella, CEO of OneLegacy. “By increasing the number of livers available for transplantation, we can save more lives across Southern California’s diverse population.”

OneLegacy is partnering with Loma Linda University Medical Center, Keck USC Medical Center and Cedars Sinai Medical Center to provide NMP technology and save more lives. This technology offers an advantage to both transplant centers and patients waiting for a lifesaving liver transplant, by allowing the liver to recover from physical damage.

OrganOx metra® continuously perfuses the donor liver with oxygenated blood-based perfusate, medications, and nutrients at normal body temperature and near-physiologic pressures and flows outside the body. This process allows more informed and accurate assessment of livers that may have otherwise been discarded to then be considered suitable for transplantation.

“Every donated organ represents an extraordinary gift. Partnering with OneLegacy and leading transplant centers to expand access to normothermic machine perfusion reflects our shared commitment to advancing transplantation and creating more opportunities for lifesaving liver transplants,” states Dr. David Reich, VP, Clinical and Medical Affairs for OrganOx.

Thanks to OrganOx’s perfusion technology, OneLegacy has seen an increase of 4 percent in transplanted livers in 2025 vs. 2024. OneLegacy expects to increase the number of livers for transplantation by 14% or more in 2026.
