WHOOP Names Dr. Ami Bhatt as Chief Medical Officer

Cardiologist and digital health leader Dr. Ami Bhatt joins to expand the company's presence across consumer health and regulated healthcare

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WHOOP, the human performance company, today named Dr. Ami Bhatt as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Bhatt, a board-certified cardiologist and one of the country's leading voices in digital health, will help accelerate the expansion of WHOOP into consumer health.

Dr. Bhatt’s appointment strengthens the company’s position in proactive health as the company builds on its foundation in human performance. Her experience across clinical care, digital health, and AI regulation will help ensure the company’s science and technology are clinically meaningful, trusted, and useful for members and their clinicians.

In her role, Dr. Bhatt will work across WHOOP to bring the company’s health offerings together and shape its consumer health strategy. Her near-term priority will be to sharpen what WHOOP already does well: empowering members to optimize their health. Over time, the goal is to establish WHOOP as a trusted bridge between everyday health and clinical care.

Dr. Bhatt brings more than two decades in cardiology and national medical leadership. As the former inaugural Chair of the FDA Digital Health Advisory Committee, she had a direct view into how AI tools are evaluated and brought into care. Dr. Bhatt previously served as Chief Innovation Officer of the American College of Cardiology, Director of Outpatient/Telecardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and holds a medical degree from Yale School of Medicine and an undergraduate degree from Harvard University.

The appointment comes at a time when WHOOP continues to expand its suite of health-focused features, including Advanced Labs clinician-reviewed blood testing and electronic health record integration, with plans to introduce in-app clinician consultations. Naming a senior clinical leader marks the company's clearest move yet to compete not just as a wearable but as a broader consumer health platform.

"We're entering a new era where every person can have a continuous 24/7 understanding of their health," said Will Ahmed, Founder and CEO of WHOOP. "The companies that define this era will combine world-class technology with deep clinical credibility. Dr. Bhatt has helped shape the future of digital medicine, and her leadership will help accelerate the next chapter for WHOOP."

“I believe the first mile of healthcare begins in people’s everyday lives, well before they enter a clinic,” said Dr. Bhatt. “By combining the ongoing view of physiology provided by WHOOP with clinical judgment and the responsible use of AI, we can give people greater agency in their health and clinicians a richer picture over time. I have spent my career focused on delivering high-quality care to people where they are. WHOOP has been building toward that same vision, and now we have the opportunity to build it together.”

Her appointment supports the WHOOP mission of adding one billion healthy years to people's lives. To learn more about WHOOP, visit shop.whoop.com.
