Davis Polk Elects Eight New Partners

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Davis Polk has announced that Jason Bassetti, Avelina Burbridge, Matthew Cormack, Kailash Gupta, Samuel Kang, Kwesi Larbi-Siaw, John Runne and Michael Stenbring have been elected partners of the firm, effective July 1, 2026.

Jason Bassetti is a member of Davis Polk’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate practices in Northern California. Jason advises U.S. and international clients on a range of private and public M&A transactions, including cross-border transactions. His M&A experience includes mergers, securities acquisitions, carve-outs, majority and minority investments, and joint ventures. He also advises clients on securities and corporate matters, including debt and equity offerings, spin- and split-off transactions, public company reporting and corporate governance. Jason’s practice focuses primarily on transactions involving technology and life sciences companies.

Avelina Burbridge is a member of Davis Polk’s Real Estate practice in New York. Avelina represents clients on a broad range of complex commercial real estate and digital infrastructure transactions. She advises clients on acquisitions and dispositions, construction and development projects, digital infrastructure projects, energy and infrastructure projects, hospitality and gaming industry projects, partnerships and joint ventures, ground leases, data center leases, all types of real estate-based financings, and distressed asset workouts and restructurings

Matthew Cormack is a member of Davis Polk’s Civil Litigation practice in New York. Matt represents clients in complex civil litigation and arbitrations in jurisdictions across the country. He represents clients in a range of disputes, including complex contractual disputes, tort and fraud actions, fiduciary duty litigation and bankruptcies. He also advises clients on a variety of issues, such as contractual rights and potential litigation.

Kailash Gupta is a member of Davis Polk’s Finance practice in New York. As part of the infrastructure finance team, Kailash represents financial institutions, sponsors, developers, private equity funds, private credit funds, and other investors and market participants in connection with all phases of development and financing of projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors. His work spans digital infrastructure, conventional power, renewables, midstream, oil and gas, LNG, battery storage, battery and semiconductor manufacturing, and other infrastructure projects. He regularly advises on commercial loans, syndicated loans, private placements, high-yield and project bonds, tax equity transactions and tax credit transfers, direct lending arrangements, joint ventures and M&A transactions.

Samuel Kang is a partner of Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, resident in Hong Kong and practicing as a Hong Kong solicitor. He is head of the firm’s Korea practice. Samuel advises private equity sponsors and corporate clients on a broad range of complex M&A matters, including sponsor-led acquisitions and divestitures, leveraged buyouts, mergers, going-private transactions, strategic alliances, corporate restructurings, and venture and growth capital financings. Drawing on deep regional insights, he guides clients through intricate cross-border challenges, from regulatory approvals to innovative structuring solutions.

Kwesi Larbi-Siaw is a member of Davis Polk’s Finance practice in New York. He advises financial institutions and borrowers on a variety of fund financing transactions and structured financings, including NAV facilities, hybrid facilities, asset-backed financings and back-leverage facilities.

John Runne is a member of Davis Polk’s Capital Markets practice in New York. John advises corporate and underwriter clients on public and private equity and debt transactions, including initial public offerings, high-yield and investment-grade debt offerings, and liability management transactions. He also advises corporate clients on general corporate matters, including corporate governance and securities law compliance.

Michael Stenbring is a member of Davis Polk’s Investment Management practice in New York. Michael’s practice focuses on the representation of private fund sponsors in the establishment, marketing and operations of private investment funds, including private equity funds, hedge funds, credit funds, secondary funds, real estate funds, co-investment funds and funds of funds. He also regularly advises fund managers on fund-related aspects of M&A transactions, including deal structuring, co-investment arrangements and alternative investment structures. Michael has experience representing fund sponsors and investors in connection with a broad range of secondary transactions, including continuation vehicle transactions, portfolio sales and tender offers.
