Suffolk Breaks Ground on Children’s Health Specialty Center RedBird, Expanding Access to Pediatric Care in Southern Dallas County

Suffolk leveraging design-assist delivery and advanced digital coordination to transform retail space into dedicated pediatric facility

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Suffolk, in partnership with Post-L Group, recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Children’s Health Specialty Center RedBird, a multi-disciplinary pediatric center located at The Shops at RedBird in southern Dallas County. The facility will provide access to urgent care, primary care, behavioral health services and a range of pediatric specialties including orthopedics and sports medicine.

Suffolk, one of the most innovative and successful builders in the country, brings deep expertise delivering complex healthcare projects that require careful coordination while surrounding facilities remain fully operational throughout construction. The existing structure requires significant modifications to introduce natural light, update MEP systems, and create a 40,000-square-foot patient environment built for the comfort and care of children and families. The team will leverage a comprehensive preconstruction approach, integrating construction expertise in the design process to identify and resolve potential issues before beginning operations in the field. Advanced digital modeling and coordination tools will help the team manage construction activity while minimizing disruption to the surrounding retail, dining and healthcare businesses that will remain open throughout the project’s construction.

“Suffolk’s experience working with world-class healthcare institutions combined with our team’s local expertise is exactly what this project requires,” said Brad Brown, President of Suffolk’s South Central Region. “This project is personal for a lot of us. Bringing Children’s Health into this community is going to make a real difference for families in southern Dallas County.”

Children’s Health Specialty Center RedBird will address a longstanding gap in access to pediatric healthcare in the area.

“The Shops at RedBird is committed to providing quality amenities to the community and there is no more important amenity than healthcare, especially for our children,” said Peter Brodsky, CEO of The Shops at RedBird. “As we partner with Children’s Health to transform a former Macy’s into a state-of-the-art pediatric health facility, there was no better general contractor to work with than Suffolk. Besides their best-in-class team, experience and processes, serving the community is in their DNA.”

Suffolk ranks among the top 25 healthcare builders in the country and has delivered healthcare projects for clients including Boston Children’s Hospital, the Lavine Bekenstein Cancer Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Tampa General Hospital, Northwell Health and White Plains Hospital, among others. In the Dallas Metro, Suffolk’s sector-diverse portfolio includes The Galbraith, The Terminal at Katy Trail, the Dallas County Mesquite Government Center and significant work at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, where the company is managing renovations to DFW Terminal C and construction of an all-electric central Utility Plant (eCUP).
