Fusion Collective Launches Legal AI Solution Sentinel Citation

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fusion Collective today launched Sentinel Citation, a citation-integrity platform for federal court filings that checks every citation against authoritative sources and verifies whether each case supports the argument it's cited to support.

The launch comes as courts escalate penalties for AI-fabricated citations. A public database tracks over 1,400 matters involving AI hallucinations, and 2026 has already seen six-figure sanctions, suspensions, and fee-shifting orders across federal circuits. As courts require lawyers to certify their use of AI tools, verification is a compliance issue, not merely a good habit. Stanford research finds that general-purpose models hallucinate on most legal queries.

Now publicly available, Sentinel Citation uses a patent-pending jury of three carefully vetted models from rival vendors: Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI. Each reads the citation independently and answers four questions: Does the cited authority exist? Is it quoted accurately? Does it support the argument for which it's cited? How strong is it? Every citation is checked against open legal sources, including CourtListener, the Cornell Legal Information Institute, and the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations. A fourth model serves as a meta-judge, delivering a single verdict per citation.

Confirming that a case exists is only half the job; what matters is whether it supports the filing's claims. Sentinel Citation works as well on an opponent's brief as on a lawyer's own, catching fabrications, misquotes, and stretched holdings before a filing ever reaches a judge.
