Church Mutual Employees Help Direct $45,000 in CM CARES® Donations to 14 Nonprofits

MERRILL, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CM CARES® — the Church Mutual Insurance Company Foundation — announced that employees helped direct $45,000 to 14 nonprofits across the country through the foundation’s employee-led giving program.

Held twice a year, the initiative invites employees across Church Mutual and its family of companies to nominate nonprofit organizations making a difference in their communities. This spring, employees nominated more than 70 nonprofits across the United States.

The selected organizations received funding through CM CARES®, highlighting causes employees feel personally connected to in the communities where they live and work.

“All-In Milwaukee is deeply grateful to CM Cares for this partnership. With this support, 725 limited-income students from Milwaukee are earning college degrees through scholarships, wraparound support, and career development opportunities,” said Allison Wagner, Executive Director of All-In Milwaukee. “Support from CM Cares will allow us to reach even more students who need the resources and support to succeed in college.”

“Our employees care deeply about the communities they live in and the organizations supporting them” said Alan Ogilvie, Church Mutual President and CEO. “This program gives employees a direct voice in where support goes, which makes the impact feel much more personal.”

The 14 selected nonprofits include:

  1. Wags of Wisconsin – Merrill, Wis.
  2. Food for Kids – Merrill, Wis.
  3. All-In Milwaukee – Milwaukee, Wis.
  4. Courage Plus – Milwaukee, Wis.
  5. Sunshine Place – Madison, Wis.
  6. Black Men Coalition Foundation – Madison, Wis.
  7. Castaway Critters – Harrisburg, Pa.
  8. International Rett Syndrome Foundation – Cincinnati, Ohio.
  9. Sunshine Ministries – St. Louis, Mo.
  10. Trooper Island – Frankfort, Ky.
  11. Hannah's Haven – Greensboro, N.C.
  12. Samaritan Ministries – Winston-Salem, N.C.
  13. The Sophia Way - Bellevue, Wa.
  14. Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Museum - San Benito, Texas.

Organizations were nominated by employees who highlighted the role each organization plays in strengthening local communities. The selected organizations represent a broad range of causes, including youth and family support, education access, food and housing assistance, addiction recovery, medical research, animal rescue, arts and culture, and programs supporting underserved populations.

The employee-led giving cycle follows CM CARES’ recent tornado relief efforts, which included a companywide employee match to support impacted communities.

To date, CM Cares has provided support to more than 1,400 nonprofit organizations nationwide.
