CampusESP Launches ESP Sense™: Embedded AI Built for the Real Work of Higher Education

The leading family engagement platform moves beyond AI features to deliver AI infrastructure embedded directly in workflows institutions already trust

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CampusESP, the higher education industry’s leading family engagement platform, today announced the launch of ESP Sense™, embedded AI built on an agentic architecture designed to connect institutional knowledge, CampusESP workflows, and task-specific AI tools.

Built as an agentic AI layer inside CampusESP, ESP Sense combines institution-specific knowledge, approved AI tools, and guided workflows to support families, surface insights, and help staff complete work directly inside the platform.

The launch marks a significant architectural milestone for CampusESP, which now serves more than 450 colleges and universities. Rather than offering AI as an add-on layer, ESP Sense is designed to function as an embedded intelligence engine, augmenting the CampusESP Content Network™, the platform’s family-facing portals, and its communication channels simultaneously.

Embedded agentic AI, built directly in the CampusESP platform

Higher education institutions face a compounding challenge: rising family expectations, constrained staff capacity, and mounting pressure to demonstrate ROI on every technology investment. Most AI solutions on the market respond to this challenge by adding another dashboard, another login, another workflow for already-stretched teams.

ESP Sense takes a different approach. Built as an agentic AI layer inside CampusESP, ESP Sense combines institution-specific knowledge, approved AI tools, and guided workflows to support families, surface insights, and help staff complete work directly inside the platform. No new system. No long implementation. No IT dependency for most institutions.

New capabilities with ESP Sense: Always-on family support

The first major capability to launch under the ESP Sense product line is the Family AI Assistant, a 24/7, persona-aware conversational AI that delivers real-time support to prospective and current families directly inside the CampusESP portal.

The assistant utilizes each institution’s existing CampusESP portal content— events, posts, emails, and approved institutional webpages — and is further supplemented by CampusESP’s proprietary knowledge base of more than 100 guides covering higher education industry context and family engagement best practices. Institutions can layer in custom instructions and school-specific training without technical configuration.

Built-in analytics surface utilization by audience persona, satisfaction scores, top conversation topics, and complete conversation histories, giving administrators a clear, real-time window into what families need and when.

The Family AI Assistant was beta tested across 25 institutions, generating over 9,000 family interactions from 3,000 unique users. Across that cohort, 85% of families indicated that an AI assistant would be valuable, making it the single highest-rated method for getting quick information, ranking above email, phone, and institutional websites.

Designed for higher ed impact, not just adoption

“Higher education doesn’t need more AI tools. It needs AI that actually works inside the systems teams already depend on … and delivers measurable value from day one,” said Dave Becker, CEO and Co-founder of CampusESP. “ESP Sense is the result of more than a decade of understanding how families engage with institutions, what staff actually need to do their jobs well, and where AI can carry real weight. We’re not experimenting on our customers. We’re providing AI that’s already proven.”

The ESP Sense architecture reflects a deliberate product philosophy: AI capabilities ship only when they demonstrably improve outcomes for families and the staff who serve them.

Availability and roadmap

The ESP Sense Family AI Assistant is available now for all CampusESP customers to preview and activate within their existing platform environment. Institutions can get started without additional implementation timelines or IT resources.

ESP Sense will continue to expand through a series of embedded AI agents designed for the daily work of higher education teams. Upcoming capabilities include data analysis agents that summarize key dashboard insights, Content Agents that monitor content freshness and recommend updates, and publishing agents that help institutions keep families informed with timely, personalized communications.
