Bojangles Installs First EV Charging Station, Redefining the Roadside Stop with a New “Charge-and-Dine” Experience

Iconic Southern food brand steps into the future of travel as electric vehicle (EV) adoption reshapes the quick-service landscape

SAVANNAH, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As electric vehicle (EV) adoption continues to grow nationwide, Bojangles is reimagining the future of the roadside stop, debuting its first EV charging station at 4401 Ogeechee Road in Savannah, Ga. In doing so, the growing Southern food chain is introducing a new kind of quick-service occasion: the charge-and-dine.

As more EV drivers seek fast, reliable charging, Bojangles is stepping forward as a category leader—transforming charging time into an opportunity for comfort, convenience and craveable Southern flavor. The Savannah location marks the first milestone in a larger initiative to bring EV charging infrastructure to Bojangles restaurants across the country. Developed in partnership with XLR8 America, a leader in EV charging and sustainable infrastructure, and Energy and Environmental Design Services, the new hub signals Bojangles’ evolution beyond traditional quick-service dining and positions the brand as a forward-thinking player at the intersection of mobility and hospitality.

“Driving trends are changing, and so are the expectations that come with them,” said Richard Del Valle, Chief Information Officer at Bojangles. “With EV charging, time becomes an asset. We’re turning that stop into something meaningful: a chance to relax, refuel and enjoy a true Bojangles experience. This is about more than charging vehicles, it’s about redefining the stop along the way.”

The Savannah charging hub is the first step in a planned national rollout across key markets, reinforcing Bojangles’ role as an innovator within and beyond the quick-service category. The charging stations will vary between level two (medium) and level three (high) speed charging efficiency with over 97% uptime, making them ready for drivers when they need it most. By pairing bold Southern flavor with forward-thinking infrastructure, Bojangles is building a future where every stop is more enjoyable for all drivers.

"At XLR8 America, our philosophy is simple: charge where you park, not park where you charge. Bojangles gets that,” said Frank O’Connor, CEO of XLR8 America. “When a driver pulls in for a Bo-Berry Biscuit and their battery tops off while they dine, that's not a coincidence — that's the charge-and-dine experience made real. Together, we're building a national network that makes EV charging effortless and every stop genuinely worth making."

By integrating EV infrastructure into its footprint, Bojangles is supporting broader adoption of electric vehicles and reshaping expectations for what a quick-service restaurant can be. As consumers increasingly prioritize efficiency and sustainability, Bojangles is leaning into its strengths, hospitality and quality, to meet those needs in new ways.
