CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Compass Precision, LLC (“Compass”), a Charlotte-based, manufacturer of custom precision metal components announced today that it has acquired Accu-Tool, LLC (“Accu-Tool”), a North Carolina-based CNC machining provider.

Based in Apex, North Carolina, Accu-Tool manufactures complex precision components for customers across the aerospace, medical, semiconductor, and industrial markets, supporting both prototype and production needs.

This acquisition continues a longstanding relationship between the organizations. In 2019, Compass Precision was formed through the acquisition of three Charlotte-area machine shops (Advanced Machining & Tooling, LLC, Quality Products & Machine, LLC, and Tri-Tec Industries Inc.) which were previously part of the same ownership group as Accu-Tool, ZP Enterprises.

“Our relationship with the Accu-Tool ownership group goes back to the very beginning of Compass Precision, making this a natural full-circle moment for the organization. Accu-Tool has developed into a highly capable precision machining business with strong growth potential, and we are excited to add them to our family of operating companies,” said Bill Canning, President & CEO Compass Precision.

Since that time, Accu-Tool has continued to evolve, expanding from a prototyping-focused business into a scalable production manufacturing partner through continued investment in equipment, talent, and customer relationships.

“Accu-Tool has always been known for its prototyping expertise, and over the years we have expanded into production manufacturing,” said Greg Stone, President of Accu-Tool. “We are proud of the business we have built, and we believe this next chapter with Compass will support continued growth while maintaining the culture that defines our company.”

Accu-Tool becomes Compass’s 11th operating company, gaining access to additional resources, capital investment, and complementary manufacturing capabilities to better serve existing customers and pursue new opportunities.

“We’ve known the Compass team for several years, and that familiarity made this a natural fit. As we considered the next chapter for Accu-Tool, partnering with a team we trust and respect felt like a natural extension of our long-standing relationship,” said Brent Zelnak, President of ZP Enterprises.

Accu-Tool will continue to operate from its Apex, North Carolina facility, with its leadership team and employees remaining in place. The business will operate as part of the Compass Precision platform while maintaining its customer relationships and day-to-day operations.

Compass Precision continues to invest in equipment, systems, and talent across its growing network of operating companies, serving a diverse set of customers in aerospace & defense, space, medical, industrial, energy, telecommunications, and semi-conductor markets.
