Power Outage No Longer Anticipated for the Village of Hughenden and Surrounding Area; AltaLink Continues to Monitor Wildfire Conditions

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AltaLink has determined that a power outage is no longer required as part of a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) for the Village of Hughenden and the surrounding area within the Municipal District of Provost No. 52.

High-risk wildfire conditions remain, but AltaLink has determined that only one of the two transmission lines supplying the Hughenden area needs to be taken out of service, which will maintain power to the Village of Hughenden and the surrounding area. Because of continuing high wildfire risk, the second line supplying the area will be out of service this afternoon until conditions improve.

AltaLink recognizes that wildfire season and potential power outages can be stressful for communities and thanks residents and businesses for their patience and understanding during this potential PSPS event. The company will continue to monitor wildfire conditions and share updates as needed through its social media channels (Facebook: altalinktransmission and X: AltaLink) and at www.altalink.ca as conditions evolve.

With wildfires becoming more frequent and intense, AltaLink’s highest priority is protecting communities while providing safe, reliable power. Reducing the likelihood that our system contributes to wildfires is a critical part of keeping communities safe.
