Banuba Updates its AI Try-On Platform with Easier Digitization & Better Performance

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Banuba, a leading innovator in augmented reality (AR) technology, today announced a major update to its AI virtual try-on platform, introducing new capabilities: one-photo eyewear digitization, contact lenses try-on for the Shopify plugin, and an even clearer onboarding flow.

"Three things have kept virtual try-on from becoming a default for retailers: producing the assets, integrating into the storefront, and operating at catalog scale," said Art Polzunov, Product Director at Banuba. "This release uses AI to remove all three."

The first update is a breakthrough in eyewear digitization: retailers can now create virtual glasses using just a single product photo, with no need for manual preprocessing. This advancement dramatically reduces production time, enabling faster go-to-market for eyewear collections.

Banuba has also expanded its Shopify plugin to include colored contact lenses in addition to makeup, glasses, and hair dye. This allows beauty and optical retailers to offer a more comprehensive virtual try-on experience directly within their stores, helping customers confidently make purchase decisions.

In parallel, Banuba has introduced an improved onboarding flow for Shopify users. The updated process simplifies setup, allowing merchants to quickly activate AR try-on without technical expertise. This enhancement is aimed at accelerating adoption among SMEs, while maintaining the robust capabilities required by enterprise clients.

Performance has also been a major focus of this update. Banuba’s AI now delivers faster processing and improved handling of large inventories, ensuring smooth operation even for retailers with extensive catalogs. The resulting quicker load times offer a more pleasant experience for shoppers.

"Three things have kept virtual try-on from becoming a default for retailers: producing the assets, integrating into the storefront, and operating at catalog scale," said Art Polzunov, Product Director at Banuba. "This release uses AI to remove all three. What used to require a dev team and a designer for every SKU now starts with a single product photo.”

The updated AI platform is available now, reinforcing Banuba’s commitment to helping brands increase engagement, reduce returns, and drive conversions through AR technology.
