This year, Komen aims to raise $350,000 at the Philadelphia MORE THAN PINK Walk and $375,000 at the Pittsburgh MORE THAN PINK Walk — funds that will help accelerate breakthroughs in breast cancer research, improve treatment outcomes and deliver vital, immediate support to those navigating a diagnosis. Proceeds from the events also support Komen’s Patient Care Center, a trusted, go-to source for timely, accurate breast health and breast cancer information, support and resources, as well as the work of Komen’s Center for Public Policy, which drives state and federal policies that ensure everyone can access the high-quality care they require.

WHY IT MATTERS:
in the U.S., breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1,000 men in their lifetime. In 2026 alone, more than 320,000 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and nearly 43,000 women will die. Approximately 2,670 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 530 will die from it. However, some experts say one-third of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. could be prevented with universal access to modern treatments.
In Pennsylvania, approximately 13,720 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and 1,770 people will die from the disease this year. Susan G. Komen provides direct support to people in Pennsylvania through its Patient Care Center. In fiscal year 2025, Komen provided assistance to 1,301 patients, including $219,600 in financial assistance to eligible people in active treatment or living with metastatic breast cancer.
“Komen’s work is not possible without the generous support of people in the Pennsylvania community,” said Megan DiPanni, Executive Director of Pennsylvania & Delaware. “By uniting survivors, people in treatment today, those living with metastatic disease, friends and family members, we can all make a difference in our efforts to detect breast cancers early and improve treatments for all types of breast cancer. Come out and join us on Walk Day, as we unite this community around Komen’s goal of creating a world where we do not lose another life to this disease.”
Bank of America is the national presenting sponsor, Natera is the national premier sponsor and Daiichi Sankyo Guardant Health, Novartis, and Lilly are national series sponsors for the MORE THAN PINK Walk and Race for the Cure events.
